Netherlands Are World Cup Finalists

Even though the Dutch were not at their best they managed to muster enough to edge past Uruguay in a subdued semi final. There is no doubt that the Dutch do have a world class strike force, which proved to be the case once again, as two goals in three second half minutes won them the  game.  For long periods of the game the Dutch lacked sparkle in midfield having to rely on a wonder goal by Giovanni van Bronckhorst to take the lead. Uruguay though fought back and were gifted an equaliser when Maarten Stekelenburg failed to stop a long range shot from Diego Forlan.

After the equaliser Uruguay picked up the pace making the Dutch look no better than average. Snijder and Robben look to have sealed the game for the Netherlands with 2 goals in three minutes although an injury time reply by Maxi Pereira had the Dutch flapping for a few minutes. Uruguay only really threatened once they were two goals behind which made the game tedious to say the least at times.

I’m sure that the winners of the second semi final, either Germany or Spain will fancy their chances of penetrating the Dutch defence in the final.
