Dallas vs Green Bay – bet on Sunday night football

The Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers were both widely expected to meet in the NFC championship game in January but something’s happened along the way. The Green Bay Packers have been decimated by injuries and the Dallas Cowboys have just been playing bad football but with my Expert NFL betting picks you should be able to make some money this weekend.

The NFL odds makers have set the Packers as -7½-point favorites. An underdog bet on Sunday night football will pay +300 if the Cowboys win straight up. The game total is set at 45½ points.

The Green Bay Packers are still in a good position to make the NFC playoffs and even win their division. They are 5-3 on the season and sit a game ahead of the Chicago Bears for the NFC North lead.

The Packers at one point this season had eight, week one starters out due to injuries.  They are gradually getting better and despite having to use a patchwork defense, the Packers are third in the NFL with 24 sacks and 12 interceptions.

Their defense was on display last week as they shutout the might New York Jets, 9-0.

The Packers offense isn’t as high-powered as people predicted but that has to do with the loss of Ryan Grant in week one. With Grant gone for the season, Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn haven’t been able to fill the void.

Aaron Rodgers is still on pace to throw for over 4000 yards and 24 TDs but without the run support he’s already thrown nine interceptions.

The Dallas Cowboys are 1-6 on the season and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get much better for the Cowboys. They are 1-6 against the spread but that should be expected, as they’ve only been an underdog one game this season, their only win.

Pro-bowl Quarterback Tony Romo is injured for almost the rest of the season (click here for more significant NFL injuries). Jon Kitna is playing in his place.  Kitna played well in his first start since 2008, completing 34 of 49 pass for 379 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively the Cowboys are giving up 26.7 per game. During their four game losing streak, they allowed 33.5 to opponents.

Looking at some trends before we bet on Sunday night football, we see the home team is 8-1 ATS in the past nine Packers-Cowboys games.

If you like to bet on Sunday night football totals, the Cowboys have gone over in their past four games while the Packers have gone over in four of their last five against teams with a losing record.

I don’t trust the Cowboys will any of my betting money, if you are going to bet on Sunday Night football, bet on the Packers.
