Bolton Yet To Secure Johan Elmander On A New Deal

Bolton may lose their top striker Johan Elmander at the end of the season after the Swede rejected a new deal after being asked to take a pay cut.

Chairman Phil Gartside said: “He is out of contract in the summer and we have to try to re-sign him.

“I have a meeting with his agent on Wednesday just to do that.”

Gartside added: “I was asked a question about the January window and said, ‘It’s always a good time to sell players because if a Champions League team comes in, they always pay top bill’.

“I didn’t say we were selling. We’re not in a position where we have to sell.

“If someone comes in with a great offer, we will consider it.

“We run a business and, if someone comes in with an offer attractive to us, we’ll trade.”
