Jermaine Pennant Wants Stoke City Stay

Jermaine Pennant has told reporters that he would like to make his loan move to Stoke permanent in the January transfer window after enjoying life at the Britannia.

He said: “I think I’ve got about 10 days left before I go back, and nothing has been sorted that I know of.

“A letter has been sent out saying they’ve got to sort out proceedings for me to go back on January 1 because they’ve got a game the next day.

“It’s probably going to go to the wire, like when I first came to the club back in August.

“I hope it doesn’t take that long because I’d certainly prefer to get it sorted before the January window opens.

“But I’m not getting too frustrated because I’ve been in the game a long time now.

“When there’s a transfer deal between two clubs there is always bartering back and forth.”

“We’ve got six games in January, so it’s certainly better for me and for Stoke if we can do it now.

“If I’m away, that’s half-a-dozen important games where hopefully I could make a difference.

“I’ve really enjoyed it here.

“The lads have been fantastic to me and the gaffer has given me the platform.

“Even though I’m a loan player, I still feel a big part of the team. And if one day I do sign, it’s nice to know I’ve got a future here and haven’t got to prove myself every game.”
