Derby County: Good Value for Championship 2011 / 2012 Winners?

As the English football season draws to a close many punters like to place a few speculative long shot bets prior to the new season getting underway. Perhaps, just perhaps, we may have a very profitable long shot for you.

Derby County have had yet another dire season. Although Nigel Clough has established the club they still finished the season just three places above the relegation drop zone. For a club with such superb support, (the second highest in the Championship 2010 /2011) the results simply have not been good enough.

Derby did though show some promise during the recent season and at one point reached the heights of 4th place in the Championship before injuries plus the departure of star player Chris Commons left the club struggling to win a game. Many blame the board for not investing in the team which has left Clough will no other options than to rely on a steady stream of loan signings.

Is seems though that the tide is turning at Derby with the board now ready to splash out the cash. Three players have already been signed including Frank Fielding a superb young goalkeeper who played a major part in Derby’s great run last year, Jamie Ward who has already scored 5 goals in 13 appearances in a Derby shirt, plus  Theo Robinson a young striker form Millwall.

If rumours are too believed then Derby are set to spend big during the next few months with perhaps a couple of experienced big money players joining the team.

Derby are set to be a decent price for promotion once the odds are released in the next week or so. Well worth a punt in our opinion.
