After getting knocked out of the Western Conference Finals by the Dallas Mavericks, the consensus around the league was that the Oklahoma City Thunder are a very talented team with a bright future, but need to make some changes in order to contend with the best of the best in the West from here on out.

Obviously, making any drastic changes at this point might be unwise considering the fact that this team has only really started to see success over the last two seasons with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant leading the way. There is no question that the Durant/Westbrook combination in Oklahoma City could be the NBA’s best one-two punch in the near future, but with Westbrook’s struggles in the Western Conference Finals some people have questioned whether or not this kid out of UCLA has what it takes to perform on the big stage.

With that being said, the trade rumors surrounding Russell Westbrook have officially began. With Westbrook being just 22-years-old, the point guard has a lot of years ahead of him and would be a hot commodity for any team in the league in search of a point guard, but one team that has gotten mentioned recently is the New Orleans Hornets.

Over the past two years, perennial All-Star Chris Paul has been involved in a lot of trade rumors around the league, but no deal was made for arguably the best point guard in the NBA. CP3 has been linked to teams like the New York Knicks, Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers, but no trade is in the works just yet.

The deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder would send Westbrook to New Orleans in exchange for Chris Paul, but in order for the numbers to match up other people would almost certainly be involved.

Is this trade possible? Yes, but highly unlikely.
