The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the best teams in the NBA over the last half decade or so and have two NBA titles to prove it, but after the collapse in the NBA playoffs recently, this storied franchise might be going back to the drawing board. With that being said, Lakers’ GM Mitch Kupchak could be looking for trade possibilities to get this aging squad back on track and back into an NBA title contender.

The one player that has gotten a lot of talk in NBA trade rumors and has been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers as a possible target for the team is perennial All-Star center Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic. With Howard saying that he will become a free agent recently and the fact that he has said he would like to be in Los Angeles, there is a strong possibly the Lakers could pull the trigger on a deal with Orlando.

Even though Dwight Howard could potentially end up in Los Angeles, the Lakers have also been linked with another big-name player as of late in the form of Golden State Warriors’ leading scorer Monte Ellis. It is no secret at this point in time that the Golden State Warriors are shopping their star guard, but with so many trade possibilities and so many teams interested there is no telling where the up-and-coming player will end up.

The Los Angeles Lakers have no shortage of bargaining chips as they could potentially trade Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom or even Andrew Bynum to the Golden State Warriors for Monte Ellis. Whether or not the Lakers or the Warriors are willing to make a deal remains to be seen, but things could get interesting this summer.
