Could the Injury Prone Caron Butler Be Back in Dallas Next Season?

Last season the Dallas Mavericks made a bold move before the NBA trade deadline by making a deal for one of the best small forwards in the league and acquiring Caron Butler. With Butler in the lineup, the Mavs finally had another offensive weapon to play alongside Dirk Nowitzki. Many people believed that Butler was the missing piece to the championship puzzle in Dallas, but he hasn’t played much for this team as he has struggled through injury after injury.

Despite his tendency to be injury prone and unable to play throughout the NBA playoffs recently, Caron Butler has played extremely well when he has actually gotten on the floor for the Dallas Mavericks. With that being said, the Dallas Mavericks are seriously considering re-signing Caron Butler for next season and beyond.

Even though the Dallas Mavericks seem interested in bringing back Caron Butler, the rest of the league in need of a high scoring forward will almost certainly make a run at signing the two-time All-Star.

Fortunately, if Caron Butler does return to the Dallas Mavericks next season, head coach Rick Carlisle might put him right back in the starting lineup. This will be the perfect opportunity for Butler to resurrect his career in the league and with the Mavs.

When a player of Caron Butler’s caliber gets labeled as injury prone it is extremely difficult to get back into a starting lineup, especially of a championship team like the Dallas Mavericks, but Rick Carlisle looks like he wants his small forward back in the lineup as soon as possible.
