The New England Patriots are one of those teams in the NFL that never really let you know what their plans or intentions are heading into an NFL season. With head coach Bill Belichick leading the charge and being about as tight lipped as any coach in professional sports, the Patriots are one of the best teams in the NFL at making the right moves at the right time with no one seeing it coming.

Even though many people believed that New England probably wouldn’t make many moves before next season, they dropped a couple bombs on the 31 other teams in the NFL recently by acquiring Pro Bowl defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth from the Washington Redskins and Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Ochocinco from the Cincinnati Bengals.

The consensus right now is that Haynesworth is more trouble than he is worth and Ochocinco could be just as bad with his outspoken personality, but the New England Patriots organization is one of the best in the NFL at rehabilitating troubled players. One of the best examples of this is what they were able to do with Randy Moss once he arrived from the Oakland Raiders.

After Moss’ time in Oakland, everyone believed his career was finished and no team would be willing to take a chance on him again. Fortunately, the Patriots stepped in and turned his career around. The question now is whether or not they can do the same with Haynesworth and Ochocinco.

In my opinion, Chad Ochocinco will come into his own with the New England Patriots as he will quickly turn into Tom Brady’s favorite target in the passing game and should see the best numbers of his career, but Albert Haynesworth is a different story as he has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and will have a lot of work to do to get back on track.
