The past few years have been pretty rough on the Denver Broncos as they went from a team on the rise in the AFC Conference with quarterback Jay Cutler under center and wide receiver Brandon Marshall to one of the worst teams in the NFL after trading both players away to the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins.

Needless to say, once Cutler and Marshall were out of the picture and the team fired longtime head coach Mike Shanahan, the Broncos were in the beginning of an extensive rebuilding process with little hope for the immediate future. The one thing they did have going for them was a few promising young players and a quarterback that was getting the job done in place of Jay Cutler in Kyle Orton.

Even though Kyle Orton showed some signs of promising at the beginning of last season, the Denver Broncos gunslinger fizzled out as the season progressed and ultimately lost his starting job to rookie quarterback Tim Tebow since the season was basically lost.

In the short time that Tim Tebow was under center last season, the two-time BCS champion showed that he can play at a high level in the NFL and definitely has a future as a starting quarterback in this league. With that being said, the debate in the Mile High City during the offseason has been which quarterback will get the nod to start in Week 1 next season.

That answer seems to be Tim Tebow as the Denver Broncos are apparently ready to hand the team over to the former Heisman trophy winner. Whether or not this decision still holds water heading into Week 1 remains to be seen, but some people are saying that the position is his to lose.
