Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Sidney Rice Might Sign With Division Rival Chicago Bears

Last season the Chicago Bears were arguably one of the best all-around teams in the league as they were able to defy the odds in the NFC North division and make it all the way to the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers. Despite losing to Aaron Rodgers and company, the future of the franchise in the hands of quarterback Jay Cutler is looking pretty good as the Pro Bowler is getting better and better with more time under center.

Even though Jay Cutler is coming off his best season in the Windy City since being traded by the Denver Broncos, the Chicago Bears gunslinger is in desperate need of a downfield threat. Devin Hester is a great player with lightening quick speed, but just not at the wide receiver position as he is best suited in kick/punt return situations.

With that being said, the Chicago Bears will almost certainly be looking to sign a free agent wide receiver once they are allowed to start talking to the NFL’s free agents. With no shortage of talented wide receivers available, both young and veteran, the Bears will have plenty of options to bring in to give Cutler some more targets in the offense.

One player that has been mentioned as a possible free agent target for the Chicago Bears is veteran wideout Plaxico Burress, but recently there have been rumors floating around that Sidney Rice of the Minnesota Vikings might be a more viable free agent option at wide receiver.

This would be interesting considering the fact that the Bears and the Vikings are bitter rivals, but a smart move for Rice as he would be paired up with a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback opposed to a rookie QB in Minnesota.
