Malcom Floyd Could End Up With the Division Rival Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders could easily be dubbed one of the biggest losers in NFL free agency this time around as they lost arguably their best all-around player in Nnamdi Asomugha to the Philadelphia Eagles and waited way too long to try and bring back Pro Bowl caliber tight end Zach Miller who recently signed with the Seattle Seahawks. With two of their best players on both sides of the football signing elsewhere, the Raiders are scrambling to fill the gaps with the free agents available.

One position that the Oakland Raiders could get an upgrade at before next season is at wide receiver. The bulk of the best free agent wide receivers have already signed with other teams like Santonio Holmes (New York Jets), Sidney Rice (Seattle Seahawks) and Plaxico Burress (New York Jets), but there are still a few free agents available at wideout that could have an impact in Oakland.

The first name that comes to mind in terms of free agency at wide receiver that is still available is Braylon Edwards, but he will almost certainly sign for much more than the Oakland Raiders can afford with a team like the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals or back with the New York Jets. Once Braylon Edwards is off the table, the next in line is San Diego Chargers wideout Malcom Floyd who has yet to re-sign with the Chargers.

As of right now, there seem to be quite a few teams interested in Malcom Floyd like the Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and the Arizona Cardinals, but the Oakland Raiders stand to benefit more than any team in signing the wide receiver. If they can lure the wideout away from San Diego and the other teams they will get the downfield threat they have been looking for and keep him away from the division rival Chargers.
