Indianapolis Colts @ St. Louis Rams Sat. Aug. 13, 2011 8 p.m. EST

The Indianapolis Colts had one goal once the NFL lockout was over and that was to sign four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning to a contract extension that would keep the league’s best quarterback in Indy for the rest of his career. Even though it did take some time to get the deal done, the Colts finally locked up their perennial Pro Bowl gunslinger by making him a very rich man, but Manning won’t be able to start the preseason under center due to a neck injury that is taking a little bit longer than anticipated to heal up.

In their first preseason game, the Indianapolis Colts will travel to Missouri to take on up-and-coming quarterback Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams. Usually, with Peyton Manning in the lineup, the Rams wouldn’t stand a chance against the perennial Super Bowl title contending Colts, but without the four-time NFL MVP leading the way, St. Louis will be the favorites.

The St. Louis Rams might still be a few seasons away from being playoff bound as the team will look to build around their franchise quarterback Sam Bradford, but they could surprise some people this season due to the fact that they play in a weak division (NFC West) and played much better than expected in Bradford’s rookie season.

In my opinion, the St. Louis Rams will put on a show on Saturday night against the Indianapolis Colts as they try to find out who is going to make the roster.
