Cleveland Browns @ Philadelphia Eagles Thurs. Aug. 25, 2011 7:30 p.m. EST
No two teams in the NFL preseason have gotten people talking more than the revamped Philadelphia Eagles and the up-and-coming Cleveland Browns. The Eagles made a lot of noise in NFL free agency by signing Pro Bowlers like Nnamdi Asomugha, Ronnie Brown, Steve Smith and Vince Young, but the Browns have flown relatively under the radar and might be on the verge of a breakout season.
So far, the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t really live up to their high expectations and superstar quarterback Michael Vick is coming off his worst performance of the preseason after throwing three interceptions against the Pittsburgh Steelers. There is plenty of time to turn things around considering these are pointless preseason games, but the bad performance of Vick against the Steelers has some people questioning this revamped Philly squad.
The Cleveland Browns on the other hand are riding high after showing signs of promise in the first two preseason games. There is no question that the Browns are a young and talented football team with a potentially bright future in the NFL, but no one expected them to be much of threat this season due to the new coaching staff and the second-year quarterback leading the way in Colt McCoy.
Last season Colt McCoy wasn’t all that impressive in his limited time under center, but the Browns stuck by their draft pick and have high hopes for the former Texas Longhorn as their starting quarterback. Even though the Browns didn’t expect much out of their second-year quarterback coming into the preseason, McCoy has been much better than expected and could surprise a lot people this season.
