Miami Dolphins @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sat. Aug. 27, 2011 7:30 p.m. EST
Week 3 of the NFL preseason will be interesting to say the least for the Miami Dolphins as they look to get their new backfield filled with running backs on track for the upcoming NFL regular season. The biggest addition the Dolphins made this year was trading for former Heisman trophy winning running back Reggie Bush from the New Orleans Saints, but they have also added a two-time Pro Bowler in veteran running back Larry Johnson.
The Miami Dolphins backfield is going to be as dynamic as they come with two proven veterans and one rookie looking to make career in the NFL in Daniel Thomas. Reggie Bush will almost certainly get the bulk of the carries for the Dolphins, but if his injury prone ways start to flare up I won’t be surprised to see Johnson resurrect his career in place of Bush or as his backup.
On Saturday night, the Miami Dolphins will be traveling north to face their in-state rivals in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This isn’t a rivalry seen very often considering the fact that the Dolphins play in the AFC and the Bucs play in the NFC, but with Florida being a football state this game can get rough.
Obviously, this game being played in the preseason things won’t get out of control, but there are some promising players to keep an eye on like quarterback Josh Freeman, LeGarrette Blount and Reggie Bush.
