Atlanta Falcons @ Pittsburgh Steelers Sat. Aug. 27, 2011 7:30 p.m. EST
Perhaps the most anticipated game of Week 3 of the NFL preseason is the Atlanta Falcons heading to The Steel City to take on the defending AFC Conference champion Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.
These two NFL heavyweights are without a doubt two of the best squads on both sides of the football heading into the upcoming NFL regular season and this preseason matchup could be a potential Super Bowl preview. The Steelers have arguably the better defense coming into this game while the Falcons are the superior team on offense which could make this preseason showdown interesting to say the least.
Obviously, this is nothing more than the preseason where none of the four games played by all 32 teams meaning anything, but it is a good barometer of just how the best of the best stack up against each other.
The Atlanta Falcons will look to get their rookie wide receiver Julio Jones more involved in the offense once again this week in order to get the youngster ready for the regular season. The dynamic duo of Pro Bowl wideout Roddy White and rookie Julio Jones along with one of the league’s best tight ends in Tony Gonzalez should result in the Falcons having one of the best offenses in the NFL, but it won’t be much use if quarterback Matt Ryan can’t get the football to his star receivers against a lockdown defense like the Steelers have.
Julio Jones will definitely be the player to watch in this matchup as it will be interesting to see what the young kid can do against a solid defense.
