New York Jets @ New York Giants Sat. Aug. 27, 2011 7 p.m. EST
The annual preseason battle at New Meadowlands Stadium will take place this Saturday night with the New York Jets being the away team against the New York Giants. The Jets look like they are in pretty good shape right now with the team firing on all cylinders on both sides of the football, but the same can’t be said for the Giants who took a major blow on defense last week by losing starting cornerback Terrell Thomas for the season with a torn ACL.
Despite losing one of their best defensive players for the entire season, the New York Giants did look very good on the other side of the football by lighting up the Chicago Bears last week for 41 points. With the loss of Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith (Philadelphia Eagles) to free agency and inability to re-sign Plaxico Burress, there have been a lot of question marks surrounding the Giants offense, but they may have been put to rest after last week’s dominance against the Bears lockdown defense.
The Giants offense was created more in the ground game than through the air attack last week with running backs Darel Scott (97 yards, 1 TD), Brandon Jacobs (48 yards, 1 TD) and Danny Ware (23 yards, 1 TD) leading the way for New York. This week the Giants will be looking to do more of the same against the Jets.
