Jacksonville Jaguars @ Buffalo Bills Sat. Aug. 27, 2011 7 p.m. EST
The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills are two struggling NFL franchises that are in the middle of rebuilding. The Jaguars are a in a much better situation in comparison to the Bills with Jacksonville having some stars to build around like perennial Pro Bowl running back Maurice Jones-Drew and rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
Buffalo on the other hand could be in for another disappointing season as they really don’t have much going for them at this point in time. One indication of the state of the franchise came when the Bills decided to trade arguably the team’s best offensive player in wide receiver Lee Evans to the Baltimore Ravens.
With that being said, the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars preseason games have been important as these four games have been more of a tryout to see what players are worthy of becoming starters for the upcoming NFL regular season. Like I said, the Bills have much more work to be done because of the state of the franchise and their lack of star power, but that just makes the upcoming showdown against the Jaguars that much more interesting.
The one player to keep your eye on in this preseason battle is rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert. With a potential quarterback controversy on the horizon in Jacksonville, the Jaguars will be looking to see just how well this kid can play under center and whether or not he has what it takes to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
