Houston Texans @ San Francisco 49ers Sat. Aug. 27, 2011 8 p.m. EST

The San Francisco 49ers are in the middle of a quarterback controversy once again as they currently have an ongoing battle between rookie Colin Kaepernick and veteran Alex Smith to see who will be starting under center in Week 1 of the NFL regular season. New head coach Jim Harbaugh seems to be leaning towards having Alex Smith as his number one gunslinger, but if Colin Kaepernick continues to impress during the NFL preseason that could very well change by Week 1.

Along with the quarterback battle in the Bay Area, the San Francisco 49ers also has a new face that is trying to get used to his new surrounding in wide receiver Braylon Edwards formerly of the New York Jets. With Braylon Edwards playing alongside wide receiver Michael Crabtree and tight end Vernon Davis, the 49ers will have the offensive options through the air in order for this team to be successful both on the ground with running back Frank Gore and in the air attack.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Jim Harbaugh can keep all these outspoken personalities in check, but this team definitely has the potential to make it into the playoffs and win the NFC West division title this time around.

In the meantime, the San Francisco 49ers will play host to another team on the rise in the Houston Texans on Saturday night.
