Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings Sat. Aug. 27, 2011 8 p.m. EST
Last year the Dallas Cowboys came into the NFL regular season with high hopes of contending for a Super Bowl title. With arguably the most talented team in the league on both sides of the football, the Cowboys had a tremendous amount of pressure to succeed and go the distance.
Unfortunately, last season was an absolute disaster for Jerry Jones’ storied NFL franchise as the Dallas Cowboys came up way short of their high expectations. Not only did they miss the playoffs, but they saw their franchise quarterback Tony Romo go down for the season (broken collarbone) and finished the regular season with a miserable 6-10 record.
This season the Dallas Cowboys will look to turn things around as they will have Tony Romo back healthy and will be able to start the season with new head coach Jason Garrett calling the shots right out of the gate. Needless to say, things look promising in Dallas, but they will have their work cut out for them as they will have to contend with the revamped Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East division.
In the meantime, the third week of the NFL preseason is about to get underway for the boys from Big D as they will travel up north to take on Donovan McNabb and the Minnesota Vikings.
Unlike the Cowboys, the Vikings don’t really know what to expect this season with another veteran quarterback taking over under center. McNabb may have something left in the tank and will have a chance to redeem himself this season with players like Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin at his disposal.
