Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets Sun. Sept. 11, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST
Perhaps one of the best games to open the 2011-2012 NFL regular season will be the New York Jets going head-to-head against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night at New Meadowlands Stadium.
Both of these storied NFL franchises will have a lot of pressure on them to get off to a good start to this season with the Dallas Cowboys seriously underachieving last season and the New York Jets being legitimate Super Bowl title contenders for the third straight season under head coach Rex Ryan.
The one thing that might make this matchup more intriguing than any other is the battle of the brothers between Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan. With Rob now taking over as the defensive coordinator of the Cowboys, the Jets will almost certainly be challenged offensively as they try to put up points against a Ryan defense that has been around the league for quite some time.
The edge definitely has to go to the New York Jets in this matchup though as they have proven over the last two seasons that they know how to get things done by appearing the AFC championship game two years in a row. This might be the year the Jets get to the Super Bowl or it could be the year they start to struggle, but they will definitely have their work cut out for them against a solid Cowboys squad.
As of right now, the New York Jets are favored to come out on top with a -4 point spread. This is a somewhat strange spread, but do believe the Jets will cover it regardless.
My Pick: Take the Jets at -4.
