Minnesota Vikings @ San Diego Chargers Sun. Sept. 11, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
Last season the Minnesota Vikings gave Brett Favre one last year in the spotlight and were burnt by that decision as the future Hall of Fame gunslinger just couldn’t compete on the same level. Now that the Brett Favre saga is officially over in Minnesota, the Vikings have taken a chance on another perennial Pro Bowl veteran quarterback in Donovan McNabb.
Even though his short stint with the Washington Redskins left many people thinking that he is done as a starting quarterback in the NFL, Donovan McNabb might be able to redeem himself with offensive weapons like Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin at his disposal this season.
Unfortunately, McNabb won’t have much time to adjust to his new surroundings and ease into another starting role as the Minnesota Vikings will face off against a very good San Diego Chargers squad in Week 1.
The San Diego Chargers may have had a down year last season after failing to win the AFC West division title or make it back into the playoffs, but they are about as talented as any team in the league on both sides of the football. This could be the year that Pro Bowl quarterback Philip Rivers takes the Chargers the distance and turns San Diego into a legitimate Super Bowl title contender.
As of right now, the San Diego Chargers are favored to destroy the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 with a -9 point spread in their favor. This is higher than I expected, but the Chargers are explosive enough on offense to make this happen.
Take the Chargers at -9.
