New York Jets @ New England Patriots Sun. Oct. 9, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
One of the most heated rivalries in the NFL will get back underway this weekend when Rex Ryan’s New York Jets travel to Foxbourgh to take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Not only do these two teams despise each other with no love lost, but they both play in the AFC East division which has gotten that much tougher this season with the emergence of the Buffalo Bills who have already beaten Bill Belichick’s squad this year.
With the AFC East division getting tougher, the Patriots and the Jets will have to step up their game in order to compete for the division title. This weekend will be a must-win situation for both teams since the Jets are really struggling with two straight losses and the Patriots are having some serious trouble with their weak defense.
There is no question at this point in time that the New England Patriots are the better team in comparison to the New York Jets, but Rex Ryan’s defense can be as tough as they come and has had some success against two-time NFL MVP quarterback Tom Brady.
This battle between two AFC East division rivals will almost certainly be the game of the week with some serious divisional and playoff implications, but it would be hard to go against Tom Brady this season with the way he has played so far.
Even though the Patriots should win this game, New England has been given the edge with a -9 point spread which I believe is way too high for such a heated rivalry. With that being said, the Jets would be the safe bet.
My Pick: Take the Jets at +9
