San Diego Chargers @ Denver Broncos Sun. Oct. 9, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
The AFC West division has been one of the worst divisions in the NFL for quite some time now, but now that distinction has begun to change with the emergence of teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders. Even though the Chiefs have fallen off this season and looked like they could become of the worst teams in the league yet again after suffering some devastating injuries, the Raiders are force to be reckoned with and the San Diego Chargers will need to continue to win football games in order to stay ahead of their division rivals in the AFC West standings.
In Week 5, Philip Rivers and company will head to the Mile High City to take on the division rival Denver Broncos. Once again, the Broncos are awful football team this season with little or no hope for a successful season, but they can be a tough team to beat on their home field in Denver.
At this point in time, the San Diego Chargers seem to be on a roll having won three out of their first four games of the season with their only loss coming against the New England Patriots. The loss against the Patriots was understandable considering Tom Brady’s season thus far, but a loss to the Broncos would not be which means this a must-win for Norv Turner’s squad.
As of right now, the San Diego Chargers are only favored by -4 to beat their division rivals. This spread is a lock in my opinion with the Chargers offense being extremely tough to beat this season and the Broncos getting destroyed last week by the Green Bay Packers.
My Pick: Take the Chargers at -4
