Arizona Cardinals @ Baltimore Ravens Sun. Oct. 30, 2011 1 p.m. EST
In the first few weeks of the season, the Baltimore Ravens looked like an elite team in the NFL with Super Bowl aspirations. Not only was the defense back to dominant status with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed leading the way, but the offense had become a force to be reckoned with quarterback Joe Flacco helping the Ravens light up the scoreboard on a weekly basis.
Last week however the Ravens hit a bit of a snag in the road offensively as the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars were able to hold the potent offense of Baltimore to just seven points. This loss to the Jaguars surprised everyone as the Ravens were favored to destroy Jacksonville, but that just didn’t happen and head coach John Harbaugh could not get anything going offensively on Monday Night Football.
In Week 8, the Baltimore Ravens will try and bounce back from the ugly loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars as they are set to square off against the Arizona Cardinals. Much like the Jaguars, the Cardinals haven’t been able to live up to expectations this season with just one win to start the Kevin Kolb era in Arizona.
As of right now, the Baltimore Ravens are heavily favored to get the win in Week 8 with a -13 point spread in their favor. With the loss to the Jaguars still fresh in everyone’s mind, the Ravens will most likely come out with a new attitude in this game and look to put up a big number against the Cardinals.
Even though I believe the Ravens will get the win in Week 8, Baltimore covering the spread seems like a stretch.
