NFL Week 8: New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers Sun. Oct. 30, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
The most anticipated matchup of Week 8 will no doubt be when Tom Brady’s New England Patriots go head-to-head against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This game won’t only be highly anticipated for the classic matchup between a potent offense (Patriots) and a lockdown defense (Steelers), but it could be a preview of the AFC Championship game later in the year.
There is no question that the Pittsburgh Steelers got off to a rough start this season as they were absolutely dominated by the arch division rival Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 (35-7), but they have been able to get back on track as of late with three straight wins. The three past games weren’t against the best competition in the AFC Conference, but head coach Mike Tomlin seems to have this team back on track and ready to make another run at the AFC North division title at season’s end.
Perhaps the most impressive part of the Steelers’ game plan over the last three weeks has been the passing game.
Pittsburgh has primarily been a running team that depends on solid defense to get wins in the past, but this season two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been able to strike up some chemistry with his young wide receiver Mike Wallace. These two have become one of the most lethal quarterback/wide receiver combinations in the NFL.
Picks for Patriots vs Steelers
As of right now, the New England Patriots have been favored with a -3 point spread to get the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8. This is a decent spread, but taking the Steelers would be a safe bet in my opinion.
Take the Steelers at +3.
