Minnesota Vikings @ Atlanta Falcons Sun. Nov. 27, 2011 1 p.m. EST
Over the past couple of seasons, two of the best teams in the NFC Conference have been without doubt the Minnesota Vikings and the Atlanta Falcons. This season, that distinction has changed as the Vikings have resorted back to a perennial bottom feeder and the Falcons have struggled to regain their form of last season.
With veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb sent to the bench and superstar running back Adrian Peterson currently injured, the team has been handed over to rookie gunslinger Christian Ponder. Even though Ponder has played better than expected in his first few starts in the NFL, the Vikings still haven’t been able to get back on track or compete with the best of the best in the NFC Conference.
The Atlanta Falcons on the other hand have played really well at times this season, but have a somewhat disappointing 6-4 record coming into Week 12. Not only is the record of the Falcons not what was expected at this point in time in the season, but they have also lost twice at home this year which has kind of effected this team’s dominance at the Georgia Dome.
Fortunately, the Atlanta Falcons have an opportunity to get back on track this week as they will host the Minnesota Vikings at the Georgia Dome. The Vikings are by no means amongst the elite in the NFC Conference right now, but a win is all the Falcons can ask for in order to continue to contend in the NFC South division.
As of right now, the Atlanta Falcons have been given the edge in this matchup with a -10 point spread. This spread is a bit high than I’d like, but without Adrian Peterson the Vikings will be helpless offensively.
My Picks: Take the Falcons at -10
