Norwich vs Tottenham Hotspurs Preview and Betting – Dec. 27th
Newly-promoted Norwich City will face a tough test on Dec. 27th when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Carrow Road. Spurs sit third in the English Premier League with 35 points from 11 wins, two draws and three losses after 16 games. They go into the game 10 points behind both Manchester City and Manchester United, who sit at the top of the table, but Spurs have two games in hand on both those clubs. Norwich goes into the game in a respectable 11th place with 21 points from five wins, six draws and six losses.
Spurs are one of the hottest teams in the EPL at the moment with 11 wins in their past 14 contests. They dropped two points at home though last time out in a 1-1 draw against London rivals Chelsea. However, they remain one point ahead of them in the table. Norwich has played well this year since being promoted and haven’t been beaten in their last three games. They’ve won four of their home games so far this season, which is actually more than Everton, Aston Villa, and Liverpool has managed. Striker Grant Holt has been in good form lately with three goals in his last four games.
Norwich will be without Kyle Naughton since he’s suspended. However, he’s on loan from Spurs and wouldn’t have played against Tottenham in any case. They’ll also be playing without the services of Elliot Ward and James Vaughan who are both out with knee injuries. Tottenham might have to play without Rafael van der Vaart as he injured a hamstring in the game against Chelsea. It’s not as serious as the club originally thought, but he still might be out for this game. Younes Kaboul and striker Jermain Defoe also have hamstring injuries and it won’t be decided until just before the kickoff if they’ll play or not. Another player sidelined due to a hamstring is winger Aaron Lennon, while midfielder Tom Huddlestone and defender Michael Dawson are also out with leg problems. Ledley King is a possibility, but don’t count on the injury-prone defender to play.
Spurs still have a lot of talented players that are healthy, such as Gareth Bale, Scott Parker, Luka Modric, and Emmanuel Adebayor. They’ve also upgraded their goalkeeping this year with American Brad Friedel between the posts.
Predictions for Norwich vs Tottenham
Norwich has won two, drawn two and lost two in their last six games while Spurs have won four, drawn one and lost one. However, Norwich has only beaten Spurs just once in their last dozen meetings. This could be an entertaining game with both teams attacking and looking for all three points. Spurs may miss some of their injured players and a draw could be in the cards for this game.
Sportsbook William Hill has the current odds of a Norwich win listed at 10/3 with a Tottenham victory at 4/5 and a draw at 13/5.
