Napoli is at home to Inter Milan on Jan. 25 in a Coppa Italia quarterfinal showdown at Stadio San Paolo. Napoli made it to this stage of the tournament with a 2-1 win over Cesena a couple of weeks ago while Inter reached the last eight with a beat Genoa at home 2-1.

Napoli sits in seventh place in the Italian Serie A table with 29 points after drawing 1-1 with Sienna in their last match. They have seven wins, eight draws and four defeats. They started the season strongly. But have just two wins in their last five games. They faced Inter almost exactly a year ago to the day in the Coppa Italia and were beaten 5-4 in a penalty shootout after playing to a 0-0 draw. It was Inter’s first win in Napoli since 1997.

Inter beat Lazio 2-1 on Sunday and have risen to fourth place in the league after a rocky start to the season. They have 35 points and are just six back of league-leading Juventus with 11 wins, two draws and six losses. They have a habit of playing well in the Coppa Italia and have won the event seven times in the past, the third most in history, and are now looking to win it for the third straight year in 2012. Napoli has won the cup three times.

Napoli has four wins, four draws and two losses at home so far this season, which is just 13th best in Serie A. On the other side of the coin, Inter has five wins, a draw and three losses on the road in nine games so far this season, which is fourth best in the Italian league. However, they’re red hot at the moment with eight wins in a row heading into this game and have let in just three goals in those matches.

Inter Milan will likely be missing some of their top players for this game though as Dejan Stankovic and Diego Forlan appear to be out and Sulley Muntari is playing in the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana. In addition, defender Cristian Chivu, defender Yuto Nagatomo and midfielder Coutinho will be game-time decisions. Midfielder Wesley Sneijder might support a lone striker, which would likely be Giampaolo Pazzini or Diego Milito.

Predictions and Odds

Napoli beat Inter 3-0 away earlier in the season, but this is going to be a lot tougher with Inter in fine form. Look for Inter to come out on top by a single goal.

Sportsbook William Hill has the current odds of a Napoli win at 11/8 with an Inter Milan victory at 2/1 and a draw at 9/4.
