Yesterday’s game between Liverpool and Tottenham in the English Premier League was 11 minutes old when a cat made a surprising entrance on the pitch causing the game to a standstill for about a minute.

The cat was escorted to the sidelines by Tottenham keeper Brad Friedel where he was later taken off the pitch by Anfield stewards.

This event was by far the most entertaining part of the 0-0 bore draw and the Anfield Cat became an instant hit on Youtube and Twitter. The “official” Twitter account of the Anfield Cat (@AnfieldCat) got 17.000 followers in the first 2 hours of its creation and at the time of writing that number is closing in on 32.000 followers. Not too bad for a cat from Liverpool.

For those of you looking for the video of the Anfield Cat I have embedded it below.
