Manchester United will try to widen the gap at the top of the English Premier League on Apr. 8 when they take on Queens Park Rangers at home at Old Trafford.

United is trying to retain their Premier League crown and are in good position to do so since they lead the league with 76 points from 24 wins, four draws and three losses. They have a five-point lead over second place Manchester City and a win over QPR could vault them eight ahead if City loses away to Arsenal the same day.

QPR scored a huge win last weekend when they beat Arsenal 2-1 at home in a London derby. It lifted them out of the relegation zone because of their goal difference. However, going into the weekend they had just 28 points from seven wins, seven draws and 17 losses. Blackburn and Wigan also have 28 points on the season.

Manchester United should have Portuguese winger Nani back in the squad after he missed five games due to an ankle injury. However, Brazilian midfielder Nani and English striker Michael Owen are still injured and captain Nemanja Vidic and Darren Fletcher appear to be out for the season. Goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is also questionable.

For QPR, they’re hoping that strikers Heidar Helguson and DJ Campbell will be able to dress for action. Both of them have been missing for a couple of months due to injury. Fellow forward Djibril Cisse is suspended for this game and Fitz Hall, Armand Traore, Faurlin, and Dyer are also expected to miss the match because of injuries.

QPR has come up big against some of the Premier League’s top clubs so far this season as they’ve managed to beat Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. They should have some confidence going into the game after last week’s win over Arsenal. However, they’ve lost 15 games at Old Trafford out of 19, managing just one win which came back in 1992.

United has won their last six league games while QPR has two wins, three losses and a draw in their past six. United beat QPR 2-0 in London a week before Christmas and though they’re not as desperate for points as the London side they should realize a win here could go a long way in securing the title. QPR will need Campbell and Helguson in the line-up if they hope to threaten United at all, because without them they simply don’t have enough firepower.

Man Utd vs QPR Predictions and Odds

United can smell the EPL championship and while they haven’t played at their best against some of the lower teams this season they have enough of a killer instinct to beat QPR by a couple of goals in this game.

William Hill is showing the latest odds of a Manchester United victory at 1/5 and a QPR win at 14/1 with a draw at 5/1.
