It’s another huge game for Chelsea this Saturday Apr. 21when they travel down the road to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal in a London derby. Chelsea has just recently beaten Barcelona 1-0 in the first leg of the European Champions League semi final and beat Tottenham 5-1 in the semi final of the FA Cup at Wembley. They’ll now return to Wembley on May 5th to take on Liverpool in the FA Cup final.

This game against Arsenal will be to try and secure a top-four spot in the English Premier League so they’re guaranteed a berth in the Champions League again next year. Arsenal currently sits in third place on the EPL with 64 points from 20 wins, four draws and 10 losses. Chelsea sits seven points behind them in sixth place in the league with Tottenham, at and Newcastle at 59 points each, between them.

This makes the match against Arsenal basically a must-win if they hope to catch them or pass Newcastle and Spurs. Chelsea’s record on the season so far is 16 wins, nine draws and eight losses. They have just five games to go n the season, but have a game in hand on Arsenal. They’ve been playing well under new manager Roberto Di Matteo and have a 10-2-1 record with him at the helm.

Some people felt Chelsea got off lucky by beating Barcelona and feel their luck will run out if they play the same way against Arsenal. Chelsea has experienced players, but need some youthful exuberance and speed if they hope to keep winning games. Their return match in Barcelona takes place next Tues.

Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-3 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season after Robin van Persie banged in two goals in the last five minutes to win it. Arsenal has been inconsistent all season long and that’s shown in their 10 losses. Their latest defeat came on Monday at home when lowly Wigan managed to take them out by a score of 2-1.

Chelsea has won seven games this season following Champions League matches, but they haven’t been one of the greatest road teams this season. They’ve won six, drawn six and lost five, which isn’t bad, but obviously needs to be better or they wouldn’t find themselves in sixth place. Arsenal has played well at home with 12 wins, two draws and three losses.

Arsenal will be without midfielders Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta as they’re both out for the season. Chelsea will be missing defender David Luiz. Van Persie is the man to watch for Arsenal as he leads the league with 27 goals. Didier Drogba scored against Spurs and Barcelona last week and could be a force if he plays. However, the latest reports say he’ll miss the game with an injury. Frank Lampard leads Chelsea with 11 league goals.

This should be a pretty exciting match, but look for Chelsea to miss the mark when it comes to all three points and will likely have to settle for a draw.

William Hill shows the latest odds of an Arsenal win at 21/20 with a Chelsea victory at 11/4 and a draw at 9/4. Bet on the game with free bets via the banner up top.
