The European Champions League continues on Tues. Nov. 20 when Italian champions Juventus host reigning Champions League cup holders Chelsea of England in Turin. Juventus goes into the game following a 0-0 draw with Lazio on the weekend and it was the only time in 18 home matches that they have failed to score a goal. Chelsea enters the match after a disappointing 2-1 loss on the road to West Bromwich Albion. They’re in third place in the English Premier League with 24 points and are now just one ahead of West Brom.

Juventus drew their first three Group E Champions League games before pounding out a 4-0 win over Danish club Nordsjælland. Up until the win, the Italian club had a record nine straight draws in European games. They now have six points and sit in third place. If they hope to progress from the group stages they really need more than a draw against Chelsea. Juventus ace Andrea Pirlo missed the weekend match against Lazio with a suspension, but he’ll be back in the lineup against Chelsea.

Chelsea has a good chance of advancing into the next round of the competition with a win or draw here in Italy. They have seven points from two wins, a draw and a loss and are level with Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine. Their next group game is against Nordsjaelland and unless they fall apart against the Danes should earn three points back at Stamford Bridge against them. However, Chelsea hasn’t really performed too well in Italy over the years.

They’ve played there eight times in the past and have just one win to show for their travels. That was back in 2003 when they beat Lazio 4-0. They also have three draws and four losses on Italian soil. Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo will probably have to play without midfielder and England international Frank Lampard as well as defender and captain John Terry as they’re both still out of action with injuries. However, defender Ashley Cole should be back. Juventus is hoping Mirko Vucinic is back, but Paolo De Cegile will probably miss the game.

Our predictions

In their last five games overall, Juventus has three wins, a draw and a loss while Chelsea has two wins, two draws and a loss. Juventus has played English teams 20 times at home in the past and have managed to win 20 of the games. They’re a strong team at home and possess a solid midfield. It’s likely that Chelsea will try to pounce on the Italian team with quick counter attacks. There should be some scoring chances created by Juventus and Chelsea hasn’t been playing too well in their own end of late. If Chelsea sits back and allows Juventus to attack they’ll probably pay for it with a loss.

The latest betting odds on this match from sportsbook William Hill show a Juventus win at 17/20 with a Chelsea victory at 10/3 and a draw at 12/5.
