Real Sociedad will host Osasuna on Friday November 23 at Estadio Municipal de Anoeta in an important Spanish La Liga matchup. Both teams are struggling in the league right now and three points would do either team a world of good. Real Sociedad is coming off of a 4-0 league win last week over Ravo Vallecano while Osasuna drew Malaga 0-0 at home.

Real Sociedad sits in ninth place in the La Liga with 16 points from five wins, a draw and six losses. They’ve scored and allowed 16 goals in their 12 matches so far. Osasuna is struggling in 19th place in the 20-team league with nine points from two wins, three draws and seven losses. They have 11 goals for and 15 against. In their last five matches overall, Real Sociedad has two wins, a draw and two losses while Osasuna has managed just one win with a draw and three losses. However, in their last five meetings with each other, Osasuna has three wins, a draw and just one defeat. The last time the met was in May with Osasuna pulling out a 1-0 win at home.

Each team will have to decide on their squads shortly before game time as they each have some injuries to deal with heading into the match. Real Sociedad will likely have to play without the services of Gorka Elustondo and Markel Bergara as they’re both sidelined with injuries. However, it’s possible that David Zurutuza could make his way into the squad. For Osasuna, it looks like Juan Francisco Nino, Masoud Shojaei, and Paxti Martinez Punal will all miss the match with injuries.
Real Sociedad looks to be in better shape for the game, at least mentally, as they have confidence from earning two straight wins. Midfielder Asier Illarramendi said his side needs to keep the momentum going with a good game against Osasuna since they can rise up to sixth place in the table with a victory. However, he said his teammates can’t go into the game as an arrogant squad and need to make sure they stay grounded and give it their best effort.

Osasuna manager Jose Luis Mendilibar claims that his team will be going for a win not a draw as they need all three points to make sure they get out of the league’s relegation zone. He admitted that a point might end up being a bonus since every point is valuable to his club, but he wants to definitely see his players go for all three points. Midfielder Raoul Loe agreed with his manager and feels the players are confident that they can pull it off.

Going by the past meetings against each other it looks like Osasuna has a good chance of earning at least a draw and that’s probably a likely result in this match.

Sportsbook William Hill shows the latest odds on the match to be 19/20 for a Real Sociedad win with an Osasuna victory at 11/4 and a draw at 5/2.
