The fifth and sixth-place English Premier League teams will battle it out in Liverpool on Wednesday November 28 when Everton hosts Arsenal at Goodison Park. Everton is fifth place in the league table with 21 points on the season from five wins, six draws and just two defeats. They’ve scored 23 goals and allowed 17. Arsenal sits just behind hem in sixth place with 21 points from five wins, five draws and three losses with 23 goals for and 13 against.

The closeness of these two teams makes this a huge game with both clubs attempting to land in the top four by the end of the season to earn the last Champions League berth.

The latest odds for the game by WilliamHill.com list an Everton win at 6/4 with an Arsenal victory at 15/8 and a draw at 11/5.

Everton manager David Moyes should have forward Marouane Fellaini back in the squad after sitting out the last game with a suspension. The Belgian international has half a dozen goals on the season so far. However, captain
Phil Neville will still be out of action for a few more weeks due to a knee injury. It looks like Phil Jagielka will take over the armband once again and Tony Hibbert and Darron Gibson might return to action.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger should welcome Theo Walcott into the squad after he missed the team’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on the weekend with a shoulder injury. However, the squad is still missing a few players as midfielder Tomas Rosicky is still out as is defender Andre Santos and midfielder Abou Diaby. Arsenal goes into the game with a 10-game unbeaten streak against Everton and they’ve won four and drawn one in the last five meetings with them.

Overall, Arsenal has two wins and three draws in their last five outings while Everton has managed a win, three draws and a loss. Everton has the habit of drawing many of their games and this is why they haven’t reached the upper echelon of the league over the past few seasons. They’re tough to beat though as they’ve lost just two out of their past 22 league contests. Arsenal has allowed just five games on the road this season and they’ll be looking for some offence from Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud, and Walcott. Midfielder Santi Cazorla will be relied on to run the team from his midfield position. Cazorla is one of the league’s best passers with a completion rate of 93 per cent.

So… What’s the Prediction?

Both of these teams are known to draw their big games and this is a distinct possibility here. However, for one of the clubs to make a push for fourth place they’re going to have to go for all three points. Arsenal has been inconsistent this season and if they want to prove they’re among the best in the league they need to win this game, and they should.
