New Chelsea manager Rafael will get the chance to try and win over the team’s supporters when the club hosts Fulham in a big London derby at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday November 28. Benitez took over the job last week to the dismay of most Chelsea supporters and managed a 0-0 draw with Manchester City on Sunday. Most fans voiced their displeasure with Benitez’s hiring and it’s going to be a tough job to win them over. However, he could start with a win against Fulham.

Benitez will be without midfielder Frank Lampard and captain John Terry though as they’re both still out of action due to injuries. Striker Daniel Sturridge could also miss out with a hamstring problem. On the bright side, it looks like defender Gary Cahill should be returning to the squad for the game. Fulham manager will also be without some key performers as captain Brede Hangeland will be sidelined due to a three-game suspension he received for a red card. In addition, Alex Kacaniklic, Kieran Richardson, and Bryan Ruiz are all expected to miss the clash because of hamstring injuries. Another player likely to miss the match is Simon Davies.

Chelsea goes into the game in fourth place and hangs onto the last Champions League spot. They have 25 points from seven wins, four draws and two losses. They’ve scored 24 league goals so far this season while allowing 13 against. The Blues are five points behind league-leading Manchester United and four ahead of fifth-place Everton. Fulham sits in 10th place in the table with 16 points from four wins, four draws and five defeats. They’ve scored 25 goals and allowed 23 against. They’ve got one win, three draws and three losses on the road while Chelsea has four home wins along with a pair of draws and a single loss.

Chelsea hasn’t won a league game since back on October 20 and the good news for them is that Fulham has managed to beat them just once on the past 32 years. Chelsea will have to keep an eye on striker Dimitar Berbatov as he has five goals on the season so far. Mladen Petric has four and Steve Sidwell and Damien Duff have chipped in with three each. Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is playing well as usual, but the team hasn’t won in their last five games with three draws and two losses over that time.

Chelsea has just three points in their past five matches and is desperate for a win to keep pace with Man United. They’ve managed five wins and five draws against Fulham in their last 10 meetings and have outscored them 14 to 7. They’re still waiting for striker Fernando Torres to prove that he was worth the 50 million pounds spent on him when he was bought from Liverpool. However, it looks like they will have a long wait.
