Catania will be at home on Friday November 30 to host AC Milan in one of the weekend’s top Italian Serie A matchups. AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri wants his team to show up ready to play this week after Catania lost 3-1 to Palermo in a local Sicilian derby defeat. Allegri figures Milan will be out to make up for last week’s loss and will want to take it out on his team. Meanwhile, AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi headed over to his club’s training ground during the week to encourage the players to put in a repeat performance of last week’s surprising 1-0 victory over league-leading Juventus

Catania manager Rolando Maran definitely isn’t too happy following last week’s loss and wants to make sure that Milan doesn’t pass his side in the standings. Catania sits in eighth place in the table heading into the weekend round of matches. They have 19 points from five wins, four draws and five losses. They’ve scored 18 goals for and allowed 20 against. Milan is one spot and one point behind them as they have accumulated 18 points in 14 matches from five wins, three draws and six losses. They’ve managed to score 21 goals and have let in 18.

Allegri told the press that it will be a tough game in Catania since they’re a strong home side and will be looking to take their loss against Palermo out on somebody. He feels the game could be contested in a pretty hostile environment, but his team has to be prepared as they need the three points badly. He added that the players need to be focused and intense from now until the end of the season to make sure they get as many points as they possibly can. He added that Berlusconi’s visit was a boost to his players and it should have given them confidence heading into the match.

Things will be tough for AC Milan in Catania though since Allegri has several injuries to deal with in the first team. The day before the game, he said that Luca Antonini, Alexandre Pato, Daniele Bonera, and Ignazio Abate were all suffering from various aches and pains and he’s not sure exactly who will be ready to play. He’ll definitely be missing Mario Yepes since he will be out with a one-game suspension.

Maran wants his Catania squad to bear down and put in a better performance than last week. He said his team needs to show how much quality and spirit it has with a good effort against Milan. He added that his team needs to be in the right frame of mind when they take the pitch and play a full 90 minutes. He’s hoping that forward Gonzalo Bergessio will be ready in time to play, but Alejandro Gomez and Nicolas Spolli will miss the match due to suspensions.

This should be a close game with an intense effort from both teams. Look for Milan to pull off a one-goal win.

Sportsbook William hill has the odds of a Catania win at 2/1 with an AC Milan victory at 11/8 and a draw at 9/4
