Laddies Poker Two, who was in superb form at  Royal Ascot is to go for the Group 3 Shadwell Stakes at Newbury on Saturday week. This decision means that the horse is very unlikely to run in any big handicap such as the Stewards Cup. Talk of tackling the Group 1 Darley July Cup has also been dismissed.

In form trainer Jeremy Noseda said on Tuesday: “I’ve taken Laddies Poker Two out of the July Cup and her next race will be the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury.

“The timing is key, because I am a great believer that horses who run huge races off long layoffs can bounce. This just gives her a little longer to recover. I think she’s finished handicapping now.”

Laddies Poker Two looks in fine form so in our opinion is well worth a punt in the Hackwood Stakes.
