With the NFL season only about two weeks away a lot of NFL betting has begun! The NFL preseason kicks off on Sunday August 8th with the Hall of Fame Game which takes place in Canton, Ohio between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys. The NFL betting lines are not yet released on most sites for the preseason, but should be coming very soon. The NFL preseason will come to an end after 4 weeks on September 2nd and the teams will be gearing up for their first regular season Week 1 game.

Week 1 of the NFL begins with a prime time Thursday night game between the Vikings and Saints, which will surely be popular with bettors. The online sportsbooks have the Saints listed as 4 point home favorites and a game total set at an extremely high 51 points. On the money line you can get the Saints at -210 and the Vikings at a generous +175. We expect the line to shift when Brett Favre makes his decision about playing this year, whenever that will be.

We will also see two Saturday night games in week 1 on the NFL schedule, with the Baltimore Ravens in New York to take on the Jets and the San Deigo Chargers playing in Kansas City versus the Chiefs. The Jets are 3 point home favorites and the Chargers are 6 point road favorites. I like the Ravens as underdogs on the money line at +135 and will probably stay away from the Chargers vs Chiefs game.

Sunday is full of action for NFL betting with 13 games on schedule. Sharp bettors will stay away from betting a lot of these games, but look for edges and make a few bigger wagers. Personally I like the Miami Dolphins to cover the 3 point spread in Buffalo and the Titans to cover the 7 point spread against the Raiders.

One of my favorite weeks to bet on the NFL is Week 1 as I usually have a nice profit. My NFL betting tip I like to share is watch the line movements for Week 1, they are usually pretty dramatic from before the preseason until kickoff. You can usually find a couple good spots when the lines shift because of public betting – look for an edge and take it!

Good luck with your NFL betting this season – here’s to a profitable season!
