Alex Higgins the former double world snooker champion has died. Higgins, aged 61 had been fighting throat cancer for a good few years and had appeared to be in poor health for some time.

Next week the findings of the investigation into the match fixing allegations against John Higgins will be passed on to an independent tribunal. Both John Higgins & Pat Mooney have denied that any offence took place. If either are found guilt then they will face a lengthy ban for snooker.
